The Darwin Oak
This 500 year old oak tree is threatened with demolition as it stands on the route of the North Western Releif Road on the outskirts of Shrewsbury.
It is thought that a young Charles Darwin sat beneith its branches when, as a child, he grew up on the outskirts of the nearby country town of Shrewsbury .
The tree is now the focus of a campaign to not only save the tree but also stop the building of the road itself.
